How is Covid-19 affecting your work?
It has had a big impact on the projects because we cannot go into the settlements and gather people anymore. As a result, we cannot give the classes properly; we do it remotely via WhatsApp mainly.
What does your current day-to-day look like?
It is more repetitive and there are more referrals to do as the needs have increased. We keep monitoring the remote classes and try to keep busy by gardening, tidying up the warehouse and fixing the place we live and work.
How do you think it will affect the project long-term?
It is going to take a bit of time to get the projects back properly. I think the main challenge will be that once we can
start again, the projects people will focus more on getting back to work, which will have an impact on attendance. However, it will solve itself with time and we will make sure that we can continue the classes and workshop where we paused them.
Unfortunately, the connections are not good enough here to do a WhatsApp call with everyone. We send voice notes and recorded videos. It is hard to manage because it is never going to be like the in-person atmosphere. Some people are motivated, and others are less!
