Ensemble Alba Fundraising Concert

Back after the success of their concert in aid of Help Refugees in 2018, this year Ensemble Alba is putting on a classical music concert in support of both Help Refugees and Indigo Volunteers.

Ensemble Alba is an orchestral group based in Scotland, though some of their performers hail from much further afield. With a varied range of classical pieces in their repertoire lined up for the concert, from Haydn to Peter Cowdrey, there will surely be something for everyone to enjoy. You can expect to hear solos from the likes of a flautist, a pianist, and a mezzo-soprano vocalist, with strong ensemble work by talented musicians at every turn. The orchestra will once again be conducted by the brilliant Derrick Morgan. Performers from the line-up have been involved in a variety of musical events in the past, including opera productions and string quartet concerts. The orchestra’s Facebook page, goes into more detail about some of their previous successes and has some videos showcasing their talent.

We at Indigo Volunteers are delighted to have such an accomplished group supporting us and Help Refugees, one of our key partner charities.

We both rely solely on sponsors, donations, and fundraising to keep doing the work we do, and as such events like these are invaluable and hugely appreciated. The full schedule and more information about the performers and pieces are available on the Facebook event.

If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, please do come along.

Ensemble Alba deserve a wonderful audience, and it would be incredible to see as many faces there as possible. The concert will be held on September 21st in Dumfries Baptist Church, and begins at 19:30. Being in aid of a charity for whom ‘choose love’ has become such a recognisable slogan, it seems only right to end by saying: if music be the food of love, play on!
