CHEERing (Center for Health Equity, Education and Research International Group)

  • Where is it?

    Athens, Greece

  • What will I be doing?

Working with refugee families, especially women and children, weighing and measuring their babies, counseling on infant feeding/breastfeeding; nutrition, and other basic health needs. Those with specialist skills would help with training in their field of specialty.

  • What impact would I have?

Breastfeeding saves lives. If women breastfeed exclusively for 6 months as recommended they and their babies will have better short and long term health. Breastfeeding promotion and help with basic reproductive health issues is one thing that can make a huge difference during this crisis.

  • Who will I be working with?

A small team of lactation and nutrition specialists and peer counselors with many years of experience running large projects in breastfeeding, public health, and evidence based care.
