Where is it?
Northern Greece, Kavala
What will I be doing?
NLA runs various community projects including a community garden, a free clothing store, English classes, and a creative workshop. Depending on what skills you bring, you could be teaching English, helping families find the clothing they need, assisting mothers and babies in their weekly baby store, tending to the beautiful community garden, or designing new craft projects in the workshop.
What impact would I have?
Northern Lights Aid plays an instrumental role in supporting the residents of the Refugee camp in Kavala and the impact of your volunteer work will be huge. Every day people use the free clothing store which aims to gives each family the dignity of choosing their own clothing. Their baby store project ensures mothers have access to vital baby supplies and the English classes cater to the specific ability level of over 200 students. If you volunteer in their fully equipped workshop you will be helping to offer a safe space for residents to develop their creative skills as well as planning fun projects for the baby store waiting room and Saturday Kids Club. When volunteering with NLA you will be working closely with the residents to create a supportive and welcoming environment where people can come together to learn, create, and socialise.
Who will I be working with?
You will be working with children, young people and adults of all ages. You will be working closely with the residents of the camp, local and international volunteers.
