The project works with refugees from 24 different countries, but the main make-up of the refugee population in Epirus is approximately Syrian, Afghani or Iraqi.
Where is it?
Ioannina, Epirus, Greece
What will I be doing?
You will take part in one or more of the following programmes:
- English Language Programme
- Greek Language Programme
- Teenager Scout Programme
The roles vary depending on what programme you apply for, we value flexibility and a willingness to get involved as much as you can. Many volunteers end up working in at least two programmes. This means that in addition to your main role you have the opportunity to get involved in other areas that may interest you.
Volunteers are expected to be organised and responsible and to take initiative in their work.
What impact would I have?
A big one! Second Tree has been working with the refugee population in Epirus for over 2 years and have built-up extremely strong bonds with the community there.
Who will I be working with?
You will be working alongside other volunteers and team members from diverse backgrounds and countries. Being a small grassroots organisation, it is a close-knit team that highly values open and honest feedback with each other and a good sense of humor.
