Join the Movement to Save Indigo Volunteers: Our Emergency Fundraiser

In these challenging times, we find ourselves faced with an urgent and difficult decision. Fundraising for charities is becoming increasingly challenging - even as the need for our vital work grows. As a result, Indigo Volunteers, a charity dedicated to providing essential aid and support to displaced individuals along the European migration route, is struggling to stay operational. Today, we reach out to our incredible community to shed light on the circumstances that led us here and to rally support for our emergency fundraiser. Together, we can ensure a future for Indigo.

The Indispensable Work of Indigo Volunteers:

Indigo Volunteers has been at the forefront of supporting refugees, and since 2017 we have placed over 4,500 volunteers across 11 countries along the European migration route. These dedicated individuals have made an immeasurable impact, providing crucial aid, including food and shelter, to thousands of displaced people. Through their efforts, lives have been saved, hope has been restored, and the spirit of compassion has shone brightly.

The Struggle to Secure Funding:

NGOs worldwide face an uphill battle in securing the necessary funds to sustain their operations and fulfill their missions. Indigo Volunteers is no exception. The current funding landscape presents numerous obstacles that hinder our ability to continue our vital work. Economic uncertainties, shifting priorities of the media, and an under-resourced philanthropic landscape have made it increasingly challenging to secure the financial support needed to carry out our mission effectively.

Making the Difficult Decision:

In light of the financial constraints, Indigo Volunteers has made the difficult decision to temporarily pause our volunteer matching services for the next two months. This pause will allow us to urgently focus on fundraising efforts, ensuring that we will be alive and in a position to support refugees for the approaching winter—a period of heightened vulnerability for both refugees and our partner organisations. While this decision was not taken lightly, it is a necessary step to ensure the long-term sustainability of our operations and the impact we strive to achieve.
